Apple’s goal is to get their whole Mac-dom entirely powered by renewables. And most recently, they’ve looked to Newton for help. (Get it? Apples? Newton? It’s hilarious!)

The tech giant already has three solar farms and a 10-megawatt fuel cell installation, as well as a few data centers, scattered around Catawba County. Now the county has signed a new lease allowing Apple to build a renewable energy production facility on 3.7 acres of land near Newton. The facility will treat methane from the Blackburn Resource Recovery Facility to create electricity.

Check out details about the deal from the Hickory Record.
